Adult - Assessment and Referrals for 19-59 years old

For adult cases, there are a number of ways to have disability assessed and referred to the appropriate services and workshops.

Disabled persons can either speak with their doctors (GP or specialist) or contact one of the centres specialised in a particular disability.

4. Learning disability


A learning disability is a congenital disorder and is  not acquired. One is usually diagnosed with a learning disability as a child, when the normal learning pace of a child is affected.

5. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

Autism spectrum disorder severely impairs thinking, feeling, language, and the ability to relate to others. One is usually diagnosed with ASD as an infant or child, when many basic areas of psychological developments are affected. Symptoms present differently in each child ranging from poor social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, repetitive behaviors or interests to unusual responses to sensory experiences.

6. Multiple disability

A multiple disability refers to any combination of two or more types of disabilities e.g. cerebral palsy – a condition that affects the control of movement but is occasionally accompanied by mental impairment. A multiple disability is either congenital or acquired due to external factors such as a brain injury. Please consult your doctor for referral to a specialist who can diagnose the condition accurately.
