Talk 1: Recognising Depression Among Seniors (in Mandarin)
11am to 12pm
Speaker: Ms Kong Lai Yee (Senior Medical Social Worker, Institute of Mental Health)

Depression among seniors is caused by several factors, and can sometimes evolve from temporary feelings of sadness. At this talk, you will learn about elderly depression, its causes, the challenges it brings to daily life, as well as effective treatment through medical, psychological and social support.

About the speaker
Ms Kong Lai Yee is a Senior Medical Social Worker with many years of experience at the Institute of Mental Health. She specialises in geriatric care and is currently working at Aged Psychiatry Community Assessment and Treatment Service (APCATS), a community-oriented psycho-geriatric outreach service.


Talk 2: Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine (in Mandarin)
12.30pm to 1.30pm
Speaker: Dr Zhu Ping (Senior Consultant, Hua Mei Acupuncture and TCM Centre, Tsao Foundation)

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine? What are the components of herbal medicine, and how is it used? What is the difference between acupuncture and massage therapy? Find out all these and more in this introductory talk to TCM.

About the speaker
Dr Zhu Ping graduated from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1984. In Shanghai, she was Associate Professor of Shanghai University Medicine, a member of the Chinese Doctors' Association and the China Institute in Integrative Medicine. She is currently a registered Acupuncturist and Physician with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Board of Singapore.
