9 Jan 2010 - With Singapore's ageing population and increasing need for eldercare, there is a growing importance for the public to be informed and educated on the issues of elder abuse and caregiving stress.
Organised by SAFE@TRANS, "Respect, Not Hurt: Stop Elder Abuse" not only educated the public on such issues, but also highlighted the resources and social services available to them.
The key message, "Love shouldn't hurt, stop family violence", was consistently communicated throughout the event, from on-stage items such as skits, to the illustration of elder abuse through static and 3D displays.
The Centre for Enabled Living were among the four exhibitors at the event who had the opportunity to make contact with seniors, caregivers, residents of Toa Payoh, and other patrons of the event.
Held at HDB Hub at Toa Payoh, the event attracted more than 4,000 visitors of different ages and races.
