ACE stands for Assessment & Coordination for Enabling. It is a programme for seniors that assesses, matches and coordinates multiple social care and support services, according to yours and your loved ones’ needs. After matching your loved ones to the right services according to their needs, ACE then coordinates these identified services for a service period of up to 6 months. The Centre for Enabled Living (CEL) coordinates the ACE programme.
2. What are the benefits of ACE?
ACE assists families in managing the care of their seniors with as much support within the community as possible. This enables the seniors to live with their loved ones and within the community for as long as possible. It also helps them to avoid early or premature admission into institutions such as nursing homes.
3. What are the services available under ACE?
Community-based services such as Day Care Centres or Home Help Service are available under ACE.
4. Who are the ACE service providers?
The ACE service providers are Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, NTUC Eldercare, and Hua Mei Centre for Successful Ageing.
5. What are the eligibility criteria?
The individual should be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident aged 60 and above, and should require 2 or more types of community-based services. Persons needing care who are younger than 60 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
6. How do I apply for ACE?
The application process is by referral only. You need to contact a hospital’s medical social worker or a social worker for assistance in submitting the
referral form to CEL.
7. How much does this service cost?
You will be charged a one-time nominal fee that is based on your housing type. If you are a Singapore Citizen, the fees will be $100 if you live in private property, $50 if you live in a HDB 4-room to Executive flat, and $10 if you live in a HDB 3-room flat or less (including rental flats).
Permanent Residents will not have a waiver on the nominal charges. If you are a Permanent Resident, the fees will be $150 if you live in private property, $75 if you live in a HDB 4-room to Executive flat, and $15 if you live in a HDB 3-room flat or less (including rental flats).
8. How soon can the ACE service be activated?
The current average waiting time is 10 days.
9. I may not be able to afford the fees for ACE. How do I seek financial assistance?
The ACE service provider will put up a request to CEL for a waiver of the ACE fees.
