The
Caregivers Training Grant, or CTG for short, provides families and caregivers with a subsidy when they apply for training that will equip them to better care for the physical and socio-emotional needs of persons with disabilities or the elderly.
This grant is administered by the Centre for Enabled Living, or CEL for short.
2. How much is the grant? Caregivers can receive a training fee subsidy of up to $200 for each person with disabilities or elderly being cared for. The $200 can be used for single or multiple courses per year, which is considered as April to March the following year.
3. What are the eligibility criteria?Applicants must be the main caregiver of a person with disabilities or elderly person. The care recipient must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
The grant can only be used to subsidise a list of training courses that have been pre-approved by CEL, the administrator of the grant.
The caregiver must also complete the training course and receive certification of attendance.
4. Are foreign domestic workers eligible for the grant?Yes, as long as they are the main caregivers of persons with disability or elderly who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.
5. How do eligible caregivers receive the grant?Eligible caregivers will receive the grant in the form of training fee subsidies.
6. How do I apply for this scheme? After choosing a training programme from the pre-approved list (
Eldercare CTG Courses,
Disability CTG Courses), you need to submit the completed
application form to the training provider. The application form must be submitted to the relevant training provider at least 2 weeks before the programme begins.
7. If there is more than 1 caregiver taking care of the same person, are they all eligible for the grant? The grant is tied to the care recipient, not the number of caregivers. If there is more than 1 caregiver taking care of the same person, all of them are eligible for the grant, but it is still capped at $200 per year.
For example, if there are 2 caregivers taking care of Mr Lim, the total grant still amounts to $200 per year and not $400, as there is only one care recipient.
8. Can more than 1 caregiver tap on the grant to attend the same training programme?More than 1 caregiver of each care recipient can attend the same training. However, in that scenario, only 1 caregiver will receive the subsidy from the grant.
9. Can caregivers attend any training programmes that they deem useful? No. To tap on CTG to receive a training fee subsidy, caregivers must choose from a list of training programmes that have been pre-approved for the purpose of the grant.
The list of pre-approved training programmes can be found on
here.
10. Can unutilised amounts be carried forward to the next year? No. The annual grant of $200 must be used within the period of 1 April to 31 March the next year. Any unutilised amounts will be forfeited.
The annual grant of $200 must be utilised for training programmes that are completed no later than 15 March each year.
