The Assistive Technology Fund (ATF) provides financial assistance to persons with disabilities for purchasing assistive technology devices that enable them to enter mainstream education or open employment.
It provides individuals with a subsidy of up to 90% of the cost of the device or up to $10,000, in the individual’s lifetime, whichever is lower. The subsidy amount is determined according to the applicant's household income.
Examples of assistive technology devices are hearing aids, computer-related devices, synthesiser software, etc, which improve the capabilities of persons with disabilities.
The fund does not support the purchase of assistive technology devices for daily living, or which are not directly related to studying or use in the workplace. For instance, daily living aids, mobility and transportation aids, recreation and leisure aids, as well as home adaptation devices.
Who
Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents from families with ≤$1,300 in per capita gross monthly household income, within any of the following groups:
- Children in pre-school
- Students in mainstream education
- Individuals in open employment
- Students/adults with disabilities in other educational institutions who have a good prognosis of entering mainstream education or employment (on case-by-case basis)
Applicants who are Permanent Residents must have at least one immediate family member who is a Singapore Citizen.
How
Speak to a social worker or medical social worker for assistance in submitting the
application form to the Centre for Enabled Living (CEL).
Applications requesting for devices that cost more than $500 must be accompanied by an assessment report and recommendation from a specialised assistive technology centre.
