This is a residential arrangement for the ambulant elderly who are without next-of-kin or are unable to stay with family members under unforeseen circumstances. These homes provide some support services to assist and enable seniors to maintain their independence within the community. Social, recreational and keep-fit activities are regularly organised for the elderly.

*Sheltered homes for the aged are often known as old folks' homes in local context.
