1. Accessibility in Singapore
Singapore’s infrastructure has improved tremendously over the years. Expressways, the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRT), the Light Rail Transit (LRT), public buses, taxis, and an elaborate road system link people and places in a world class city.
However, a world-class city with a world-class transportation system has to be catered for all people groups, including people with disabilities.
When taking public transport, persons with disabilities have to take note of certain points to ensure their safety and convenience.
Public Buses:
- Difficulty in identifying bus numbers
- Difficulty in identifying the right stop to alight
- Difficulty in boarding and alighting the bus
Taxis:
- Difficulty in flagging for taxis
MRT:
- Difficulty in navigating around in the stations
- Problem worsens with a crowd
However, the Land Transport Authority is looking into improving public transport for persons with disabilities. Should you have any enquiry or suggestion, please contact the following:

2. Accessibility in the Built Environment
A friendly built environment is imperative in making Singapore an inclusive society, where people of all ages and physical conditions can continue to enjoy living in comfortable surroundings with their families and friends.
Building and Construction Authority (BCA) launched 'Our Friendly Built Environment' Portal on 14 October 2008. You may find the list of public places and buildings that are easily accessible for people with disabilities at http://www.friendlybuildings.sg/web2/common/homepage.aspx
