Children who may not have received early intervention are advised to seek rehabilitation and therapy programmes, which are available in several forms and for particular disabilities. From occupational to speech to physiotherapy, these programmes help a person diagnosed with multiple congenital or acquired disabilities to adapt to the environment.
Therapy teaches self-help skills in mobility (whether gross or fine motor skills), play and socialising. To enable a person to gain maximum independence, therapists often also advise on the right assistive devices and equipment for each individual.
The following voluntary welfare organisations can provide more information on the appropriate therapy required.
